Beautiful, clear skin is a dream come true.
How Can Acne Be Treated?
There care many approaches to treating acne and acne scarring. It is advisable to have a consultation with an expert to discuss the best treatment options for your condition.
Some of our acne treatment options are listed below.
Chemical Peel Acne Treatment:
Alphahydroxy Acids (AHA)
These are the mildest form of Chemical Peels and provide smoother, brighter-looking skin with no downtime. The peels’ ingredients originate from glycolic, lactic and fruit acids.
Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA)
Beta hydroxy acids, such as salicylic acid, penetrate sebum-filled follicles and exfoliate dead skin cells that are built up inside the pores. It is excellent for oily congested skin with blackheads and whiteheads.
Laser Acne Treatment:
Max G IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)
IPL lasers reduce the incidence of acne, reduce pore size and improve skin texture and color.
Fractional lasers can reduce or eliminate acne scars, blemishes and uneven skin tone. At Greenspring we feature three different Fractional Lasers, each designed for different depths of scarring to meet your specific needs. Deeper factional laser treatments do entail some downtime.
Dermal Fillers for Acne Treatment:
Depressed acne scars can be raised using injectable fillers. The goal is to elevate the surface of the scar to the level of the surrounding skin so a shadow is not cast in the depressed area. Dr. Cadoux usually recommends a long lasting hyaluronic acid injectable implant. A treatment typically lasts 1 to 4 years and can be repeated as necessary.
Dermal fillers are injected into the deepest 1-2 dozen scars. Many patients are content if the deepest scars are improved and the superficial scars are softened.
Dermal fillers are one of the most affordable treatment for acne scarring, and one syringe is often sufficient to achieve the desired results. However, depending on the number and depth of scarring, several treatments may be required.
Microdermabrasion Acne Treatment:
Microdermabrasion treats acne, acne scars and uneven skin tone and can be used to rejuvenate any type of skin with no downtime.
Although dermaplaning should be avoided by those who have active acne, it is a safe and effective way to reduce acne scarring and uneven skin pigmentation.
Facials for the Treatment of Acne:
Depending on your needs, our aestheticians can improve the appearance of your skin by recommending specific treatments to address your concerns. Facials are just one of the steps to maintaining clear and healthy skin. Facials consist of cleansing and exfoliating the skin and the extraction of impurities that clog pores.
Prescription Topicals and Acne Skin Care Products:
Prescription medications including topical and oral antibiotics are sometimes recommended to help prevent recurrent acne outbreaks. Hormone regulation is sometimes recommended for women with severe cyclical outbreaks.
Here at Greenspring Rejuvenation we carry various medications and products for acne:
Retin-A (Tretinoin) in different strengths
Retin-A brings acne plugs (blockages) to the surface causing blackheads to be dislocated. The blackheads are then discarded from the skin during cleansing. Retin-A can help control acne breakouts as well.
Obagi CLENZIderm M.D.™Systems
The CLENZIderm M.D. Systems are the only prescription-strength acne treatment that contain a patented form of 5% benzoyl peroxide (BPO) to penetrate deep into the skin and treat acne where it starts.
VI (Vitality Institute) Medical Products
The CEO and founder of Vitality Institute, Dr. A.F. Kalil, created the original version of the VI Peel to treat his teenage daughter’s acne. Vitality Institute Medical Products provides chemical peels and clinical daily care products using the highest quality, results-oriented ingredients such as retinol, glycolic acid, azelaic acid and vitamin C.
Jan Marini Skin Care Management System
The Skin Care Management System includes technologies such as green tea extract, salicylic acid, antioxidants and other resurfacing technologies to control many of the most common acne conditions and concerns.
What causes Acne?
Acne is caused by pores which become clogged and then infected with bacteria. It is not necessarily caused by diet or lack of hygiene. Acne treatments typically aim to destroy the bacteria or improve the function of the skin so it does not become clogged.
Why do some adults have acne?
Hormonal fluctuations can result in acne breakouts. Some people may also have a genetic predisposition to acne.
Will my acne ever go away?
Most often acne will go away on it’s own, however some people still struggle with acne into adulthood. Almost all acne can be successfully treated, it’s just a matter of finding the right treatment for you.
